Perhaps everybody knows about the toy train route from Shimla-Kalka but do you know about the toy train that passes through the stunning Kangra Valley landscapes? Well, now you’ll know.
The Kangra Valley Railway lies in the Kangra Valley Sub-Himalayan zone. The journey starts at Joginder Nagar, a Himachal village, and finishes in Pathankot, Punjab. It traverses 10 stations and covers some 160 km of length. Trains ply regularly, and regular updates can be reviewed on the timetables.
However, the views are something that will keep you wide awake all along. You are going to cross tiny villages with flowing streams, wooden bridges straight out of a fairytale, and the glorious Dhauladhar ranges in the backdrop to complete the picture.
The steepest stretch of this leisure toy train journey is between Baijnath (famous for its ancient temple of Shiva) and Joginder Nagar.
During this journey, the train travels so slowly that one can comfortably walk along. Bir and Billing's famous para-gliding and hang-gliding sites can within the reach of this train.
